Councillor Tom Davies, the Fire Guard Assistant Staff Officer, informed the Cwmamman Council, at the monthly meeting, that out of a total supplementary registration of 836 in the area, 20 men and 251 women were eligible for fire prevention duties.

Two classes for supplementary instructors were being held by Messrs. O. W. Morgan and Alcwyn Davies/

Mr. Alcwyn Davies, Chief Billeting Officer, reported that evacuees officially billeted at Cwmamman numbered 311 on September 30th.

And the unofficial evacuees, according to the last survey of house accommodation, stood at 596 ? a total of 907.

The council was informed that Mr. Davies was relinquishing the office to take up a post under an industrial firm, and Mr. G. Tracy Phillips ( the Clerk) and several members accorded high praise to him for his work.

Steps were taken to fill the vacancy.
