AMMANFORD FIRE STATION OPEN DAY

22nd JULY 1998

STORY: NOT KNOWN

BLAZING SUCCESS….Amman Valley youngsters tried their hands at being firemen during the fire station open day at the weekend.

Crowds turned out and the sun shined on Ammanford Fire Station's event on Saturday.

The soak-a-fireman challenge proved to be the most popular sideshow and the bouncy castle and the barbecue were also popular.

Firefighter Mike Cooper, one of the organisers, said: “We haven't run an Open Day for two years because local school groups come on station visits anyway. It seemed to do the trick as we had a good crowd and raised £2,000 for the Fire Services Benevolent Fund and local charities.”

Two youngsters are shown taking a look at a fire tender with one of the station's crew.
