During the temporary absence of her mother, Olive Jones, 3½ years old, daughter of Mrs. Anne Jones, Glanrhyd, Twyn, Garnant, sustained burns which resulted in her death.

The mother had only gone to a neighbour’s house, leaving the deceased and an older child in the house. The fire was protected by a guard, but the little girl placed a piece of paper in the fire. This set her pinafore alight. She was medically attended, but died seven hours later.
