FORENSIC SCIENCE OFFICERS CALLED IN

Forensic Science officers were called in last Thursday after a fire destroyed a large detached house, Gwestfa, at Manordeilo.

The head of Llanelli CID, Detective Chief-Inspector Roy Davies said last night, “The house was unoccupied at the time and we believe the fire was started deliberately.”

The blaze was discovered at about 7.30 pm on Wednesday but it is thought to have started an hour earlier. Firemen from Carmarthen, Llandovery and Ammanford fought the blaze but the house was reduced to a charred ruin.

Police are appealing for anyone who may nave been on the Manordeilo-Llandovery road between 6 and 7.30 pm on the night of the fire to come forward to help their inquiries.

Detective Chief-Inspector Davies said, “The findings of the forensic experts will take a few days and in the meantime we are concentrating our inquiries in the Manordeilo area.”
